What is Abby Doing?

Question: Why is Abby so still and why are her toes propped up?

Answer: Because the paint on her toes is drying.

Question: Why did Abby want her toes painted?

Answer: So her toes would match Mommy's toes!

Did You See What I Did?

We took Abby to a pool birthday party today. She loves to put her head under the water now. As soon as she pulls her head out of the water, she looks for the person closest to her (friend or stranger will do) and says with great enthusiasm, "Did you see what I did?"

Flooding

We received a call around 5:00 AM this morning saying that we should be prepared to evacuate because the creek by our house was flooding. I looked out the window and all looked fine, so we went back to sleep. This morning we discovered that the park just a block from our house was completely flooded. We had some seepage in our basement, but nothing major. But it is still raining...

Pinecones

Will told Abby he'd pay her ten cents for every pine cone she picked up in our yard. He then lowered the per pine cone rate when he realized how many she could pick up. The rate is now five cents per pine cone. Jacob and Abby found sixty-one pine cones on Saturday.

Frosting

Abby loves birthday parties! She especially likes the birthday cake! However, the reality is that she really only eats the frosting -- the cake is simply there to hold the frosting!

Cousin Jacob Turns Eighteen!

Abby's cousin Jacob is eighteen!!!! We had a fun birthday celebration weekend in Rochester last weekend. Abby and Grandpa Engelhardt kept attempting to steal Jacob's gifts!

Two Aunts and an Abby

Aunt Lori expressed concern that she was rarely on Abby's blog. Aunt Lisa quickly agreed! So, being the dutiful sister that I am, I quickly snapped a picture of the two neglected aunts and present it now to you...

Eva's Grandpa arrived today from India. He brought Eva and Abby beautiful silk dresses. Abby was delighted and immediately wanted to put on the dress!

Swimming Lesson

Abby started taking swimming lessons today. She was very brave and marched off with her instructor Kristen and four other "Pike" classmates (Abby's in the white suit and pony tail). She didn't know a soul, but put on her brave Abby face! I was very proud of her!

She said her favorite part of the class was playing London Bridge -- a game where the children had to duck under a noodle (swimming flotation thing) and put their head in the water.

The County Fair

We went to the county fair tonight to see the draft horses (Clydesdales, Percherons, and Belgians). Abby liked the horses, but was much more impressed with the chocolate ice cream and the carousel. Noni and Granddad also liked the carousel!
