Stitchin' Work
Yesterday Will and I had a conference with Abby's guide (teacher) Nikki in her Montesorri class. Nikki said that it is a pleasure to have Abby in her class. She said Abby is so happy and content and focussed.
She also told us that Abby loves to do stitchin' work. So, after school, Abby and I went to a fabric store and bought some sewing supplies. The young clerk was very impressed with Abby's description of how she sews. Toward the end of the conversation, the clerk said, "How old are you?" Abby replied, "Three." The clerk looked at me, looked back at Abby, and then grinned!!
Abby and I went home and sewed. Thanks to Abby's interest in sewing, I may actually finish the baby quilt I started making her when I learned I was pregnant with her!!!!!

Cousins
Abby LOVED holding Izzy. She also LOVED giving Izzy her bottle.
The morning after meeting Izzy, Abby wrote Izzy a note -- "Dear Izzy, please don't cry when I leave. You are going to miss me!"

Abby and the Pacific Ocean
We spent a lovely day in Laguna Beach on Sunday. Abby had fun dipping her toes in the ocean, finding shells, and watching Uncle Alex skim board.

Cheese!
Will's birthday gift to me was a three-month subscription to a cheese of the month club. My first delivery (from Manhattan) arrived on Thursday. I received three cheeses (about 1.5 pounds). Abby was a great sport and tried all three!
Here Abby is eating her favorite -- the Chabichou du Poitou -- a goat's milk cheese from France. She's poking her head around the corner because her nose couldn't help but wonder what was going on when I unwrapped the blue cheese.
Despite the smell, Abby was willing to give the Valdeon -- a cow and goat's milk blue cheese from Spain -- a try. As the following photos show, she did NOT like it!!!!

Tennis Lesson
Will gave Abby and her friend Tara a tennis lesson yesterday. The girls had a fun time together! Each time Tara hit the ball over the net she took a bow. When Abby hit the ball over the net she cheered and spun in a circle!

Champagne
Abby loves stories. Each night before she says her prayers, I tell her a story. She chooses which animals she wants in the story and then I begin making up the story. Some stories turn out better than others, but my favorites are those that Abby helps create. Monday night's story was about a gray whale and a dolphin. A ways into the story, Abby asked me to add in a killer whale and a shark, so I did.
But this obviously presented a problem for the dolphin who immediately became a tasty treat temptation for the killer whale and shark. But luckily, Abby provided the solution!
"I know Mommy! There is something terrible and dangerous for the killer whale and shark. It will protect the dolphin!" I asked Abby what this terribly dangerous thing was and Abby replied, "Champagne! Terrible champagne!"
That got a laugh out of me, but I tried to disguise it with a cough. Abby is very serious about the new plot twists she comes up with and I'd hate to discourage her creativity. Abby sensed my amusement though, because she said, "Mommy, you know the champagne is only make believe!"
Abby went on to explain how the dolphin could protect herself. All she had to do was get a ladder, call a lion fish ("that's a lion that can swim, Mommy") and have the lion fish climb the ladder and poor the champagne on the shark and killer whale.
Well, as you can imagine, the dolphin was saved!! But unfortunately for the shark and killer whale they were killed. According to Abby, "Only their bones were left and the bones just flowed away!"
