Treasure Island
I started reading Treasure Island the other night and the next morning told Abby a little about the story. She insisted that I read it to her. I told her I thought she might be spooked, but she assured me that pirates aren't real and she'd be fine.
So we've been reading it and she loves it! She told me tonight that Long John Silver is "sneaky!" Tonight, as I began reading Chapter 21 "The Attack," she moved a little closer to me and covered her eyes. I asked her if she'd like me to stop reading, but she quickly said, "I'm not scared. This book just keeps getting better and better! Keep reading!"
Each time I finished reading a chapter, I sat the book down. Abby promptly picked the book back up and pushed it toward me with an irresistible face!
Because I made her pose the above photo for me (and you) she insisted on turning the camera on me. She took this picture (and several others) as I read to her! We viewed the pictures and I told her she was a good photographer. She replied, "I know. I'm going to be an animal photographer when I grow up."

Hail
Abby and I were at the food co-op last night getting food for her school's picnic. As we were leaving, the clerk warned us to be careful. I had no idea what she was talking about, but we soon found out! When we walked into the co-op, the sun was shining, but as we walked out, it started to hail little pieces of ice. By the time we got into the car, it was hailing big pieces of ice. We were lucky enough to get a spot under a gas station's overhang and sat out the storm.
Abby was spooked, but was very brave. (I think the raspberry yogurt covered pretzels from the co-op helped!) I opened the car window to take some pictures and Abby's car seat got hit by a piece of hail! I asked her to hold a piece of hail for a photo, and she was shocked at how cold it was.

Joy
Abby LOVES her new house! She spends as much time outside as possible and is often covered in dirt and burs by the end of the day! Tonight I was pushing her on her swing and she sang, "I'm swinging over my tree, I'm swinging over me. I'm swinging over the house, I'm swinging over the mouse!"
