Poor Abby

Abby had her three-year-old check up with her pediatrician today. Everything went very well during the visit. Abby's doctor was impressed with her speaking ability -- "She uses such long, beautiful sentences and is so easy to understand!"

She then recommended that Abby have blood drawn to be tested for lead poisoning. I agreed, not knowing what we were in for.

We went downstairs to have the blood work done and poor, sweet little Abby was traumatized. He was not able to find the vein in the first arm, but kept trying and trying. Finally, they gave up and removed the needle. By this point Abby was hysterical and I was crying too. Then the poor girl had to go through it all again with her other arm. Luckily, he found the vein quickly and the torture was done.

But it took Abby almost an hour to finally calm down. We watched Finding Nemo together and later tonight she finally held her little arms up and said that they no longer hurt!
